Next sale date confirmed - rules and safety measures to follow in stores

The highly anticipated Next autumn sale lands in stores this weekend.

Next has confirmed to WalesOnline the huge discounts will go live on Saturday, September 19. The flagship Queen Street store in Cardiff will extend its opening hours from 7am to 7pm.

The retailer is famous for its annual sales, which usually occur in spring, summer, autumn and on Boxing Day, across clothing, kids and homeware with early access given to VIP members.

However, the in-store sale will look pretty different to usual as restrictions to keep staff and employees safe in the current climate remain firmly in place, while the store will also draw experience from previous sale days that have taken place during the pandemic.

The number of shoppers allowed in Next stores at any one time is limited and pre-set to allow for social distancing and this will not change on sale days.

It will probably mean that customers will be subject to longer queues as staff work to ensure stores don't exceed the new and reduced maximum capacities that were put in place when the retailer reopened earlier this year.

When maximum capacity has been reached, stores have individual measures in place to manage any queues that form outside.

On it's website Next outlines the social distancing and hygiene measures it has in place, these include:

Sanitising stations

Two metre markings

Card payments

Protective screens

Contactless returns
