Next Rangers manager odds as Irish League boss emerges as outsider

David Healy has emerged as a surprise outsider to become Rangers' next manager.

Paddy Power and Betfair have both installed the Linfield boss at odds of 50-1 for the Ibrox hot-seat.

SkyBet offer a tastier 66-1 for Healy to succeed Steven Gerrard, lengthy odds for a man who has guided Linfield to four league titles and two Irish Cups since becoming Blues boss in 2015.

Meanwhile, former Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has been installed as a 33-1 outsider.

O'Neill led Northern Ireland to their first-ever European Championship finals back in 2016, reaching the knockout stages in France.

He left the international role to become Stoke City manager in November 2019, helping the Potters stay up in the Championship.

Stoke currently sit fifth in the Championship following an impressive start to the season, with O'Neill's stock rising as steadily as the club's league standings.

Both Paddy Power and Betfair have O'Neill as a 33-1 outsider to succeed Steven Gerrard at Ibrox, shorter odds than the likes of Steve Bruce (50-1), Alex McLeish (80-1) and Sam Allardyce (100-1).

Former Rangers star Giovanni van Bronckhorst is the hot 1-8 favourite to take over from Gerrard.

The Dutchman has held talks with the club and has reportedly started planning his backroom team already.

Elsewhere, former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is next at around 6-1, while other names at the head of the betting include Derek McInnes and Kjetil Knutsen.
