Next Rangers manager odds as former Ibrox star installed favourite

Rangers are on the hunt for a new manager following Steven Gerrard's departure.

Gerrard has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with English Premier League strugglers Aston Villa.

The former Liverpool captain spent three-and-a-half years with Rangers, helping the club win the title last season.

The early favourite to replace Gerrard is former Ibrox star Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Dutchman is a free agent after managing at Chinese Super League side Guangzhou City last year. He also spent four successful years at Feyenoord.

Van Bronckhorst is the early 6/5 favourite with Paddy Power.

The 3/1 second favourite is current Swansea boss Russell Martin, who had a spell on loan at Ibrox in 2018.

Derek McInnes is just behind Martin in the betting at 7/2. McInnes was in the running to become Rangers boss back in 2017 but ended up remaining at Aberdeen before leaving the Dons earlier this year.

Next on the list is former Derby County and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard at 12/1. Lampard has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea earlier this year.

Other names in the betting include Lampard's former Chelsea teammate John Terry (12/1) and former Preston North End boss Alex Neil (14/).

Other names being linked include recently sacked Norwich boss Daniel Farke and Dean Smith, the man Gerrard has replaced at Aston Villa.
