Next Plymouth Argyle manager odds: Former Bristol City and Bristol Rovers bosses in the frame after Derek Adams' departure

The League One relegation battle took another twist over the weekend when Derek Adams departed Plymouth Argyle.

Plymouth have been in free-fall over the last month and dropped into the bottom four following Saturday's heavy defeat away to Accrington Stanley.

Adams refused to speak to the media post-match and his departure from Home Park was announced yesterday.

Argyle have one game left to save their season - playing equally threatened Scunthorpe United in what could be a winner-takes-all clash.

First-team coach Kevin Nancekivell will take charge of that game but odds are now being offered by the Sack Race for who Argyle's next permanent manager will be.

Former managers of both Bristol Rovers and Bristol City feature in the betting.

'The mistakes of last summer are finally put right' - Bristol Rovers fan view

Gas legend - and Bristol Live columnist - Ian Holloway is currently favourite at 4/1. It would be the 56-year-old's second stint in charge of Plymouth having previously managed them between 2006/07.

Former Robins manager Gary Johnson is second favourite at 6/1.

Johnson, who was at City for five years between 2005 and 2010, is currently at Torquay United and led them to promotion from the National League South this season.

'Bristol City's effort can't be faulted' - the view from the stands after Derby County loss

Further down the betting, Darrell Clarke has odds of 12/1 to be the next Plymouth boss.

Clarke has been without a job after leaving the Gas in December but has been linked to numerous vacancies since his departure from the Mem.
