Next online reopening today after temporarily closing down due to coronavirus

Following the Government's announcement last month that put the whole country into lockdown many high street stores were ordered to close.

Some continued trading through their website, however high street giant Next decided to close both its stores and online business in late March.

It was a blow to shoppers, but now bosses have announced this morning its online operation would be up and running again from today (Tuesday, April 14).

Bosses say they are able to reopen after putting in extra safety measures in place to ensure warehouse staff can work safely, reports MEN.

A statement posted on the Next website says warehouse managers have "successfully tested opening and taking a limited number of orders" on Monday and invites customers to shop online again from today.

Bosses say they have spent two weeks "reworking" warehouse operations and have taken "lots of practical measures" to ensure that staff who want to work "feel safe, work safe and are safe".

The statement says: "In order to operate our warehouse safely, we are limiting the number of warehouse colleagues working at any time, and so we will limit the number of customer orders we can take each day.

"We have put extra safety measures in our warehouse to ensure our colleagues can work safely for you."

Safety measures include two metre floor marking to help staff maintain social distancing and a one-way movement system and sanitising stations.
