Despite winning their first Premier League game of the season away at Brentford on Saturday, Norwich still sacked manager Daniel Farke after their horrendous start to the campaign.
The Canaries sit rock bottom of the top flight and are five points adrift of safety, despite picking up three points in west London.
Just two points from their opening 10 games meant the damage had already been done by Farke and now the process of finding a new manager has begun in order to avoid two relegations in three seasons from the Premier League.
Early candidates for the role were ex-Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, current Swansea boss Russell Martin, recently sacked Aston Villa manager Dean Smith and current Bodo/Glimt head coach Kjetil Knutsen.
However, it has been revealed that the shortlist has been cut down to just two candidates, but the club are yet to reveal who they are.

Candidates
Whoever is appointed the next manager of Norwich has a big job on their hands in order to keep them in the Premier League this season, which could work against the Canaries in attracting the right man for the job.
However, Frank Lampard emerged as an early favourite to take over in the dugout at Carrow Road, before it was then revealed that the club had scheduled talks with the 43-year-old for this week.
Lampard has a successful season at Derby under his belt as well as 18 months in charge at Chelsea, before he was sacked in January.
Just 48 hours after being sacked by Villa, Dean Smith was also linked to take over in East Anglia.
Smith is now be available for talks and has experience of keeping Villa up in the Premier League over the past two seasons, which could see him fit the bill at Carrow Road.
Elsewhere, former Norwich favourite and current Swansea manager Russell Martin has also been linked with the vacant role, along with current Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhutl.
But it has also appeared that current Bodo/Glimt head coach Kjetil Knutsen could be in the running after an impressive season in Norway.

Norwich’s chances of survival
The club are keen to avoid the repetition of being promoted to and then relegated from the Premier League in successive seasons in 2021/22.
There is an apparent trend of Norwich storming the Championship, only to come back down with a whimper the following term.
There is certainly talent with the Canaries’ squad but whoever comes in next needs to get the most out of them and quickly at that, with the Suffolk club already five points adrift of safety but with more than half the season still to play.
Sporting Director Stuart Webber said: “It’s important that we now look forward. We have 27 league games remaining and a long way to go in the current season. We know we have the ability within our playing squad and staff to start picking up points and climbing the league table.”
