Next Hallock in line continues family’s Spartan legacy

With the official National Signing Day now in the books, Michigan State has it’s 2019 recruiting class set.  SpartansWire revisits our coverage, analysis, and commentary on the group of players that committed on Early National Signing Day with thoughts on individual players and the class as a whole.

We’ve touched on this in the past but it warrants far more attention that it gets outside of the Spartan environment –

Is there a college football program in America that has had more fathers and sons and brothers and uncles and grandfathers all play football at that same program as Michigan State has had?

As part of this week’s Early National Singing Day batch of commits, Tate Hallock joins his brother, Tanner, in following in the footsteps of their father, Ty, at Michigan State.

Ty Hallock, of course, was a four-year letter winner for George Perles’s program from 1989 -1992 and he went on to have a very successful eight seasons in the NFL.

Tate Hallock earned praise from Mark Dantonio in this way –

“Tate Hallock has great ball skills and is extremely tough. He tackles extremely well. He really reminds me a lot of (current Spartan) Matt Morrissey. The more you watch Tate, the more you see the dynamic player he is, whether it’s receiving, punt returner, safety, or whatever position he’s playing. He’s going to excel to a very high level.”

Yes – Matt Morrissey – great comparison, Coach D.

Matt Morrissey, coincidentally, is another guy who followed in his father’s footsteps, of course.

Tate Hallock isn’t just a good tackler – how about his size?

Hallock is 6’4″ and a 190 pounds.

And he’s much faster than any of the guys who he’ll end up going against will think he is.

And here’s what Matt Morrissey, Jim Morrissey, Ty Hallock, and Tate Hallock all have in common – all were/are really, really good football players.

Tate Hallock is going to be yet another really, really good football player for Michigan State.

He’s going to make big plays when they’re needed and he’s going to work as hard as he can at all times.

He was born to be a Spartan – and now he is.

Welcome to the Michigan State experience, Tate – although, you already know all about the Michigan State experience.

Spartan Nation is pulling for you…
