Next Everton manager odds as Wayne Rooney favourite to replace Frank Lampard

Wayne Rooney is the favourite with the bookies to succeed Frank Lampard at Everton.

Following a 4-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park on Tuesday night, speculation was rife about Lampard’s position at the club. However, it now appears that the former Chelsea boss will take charge of Everton’s FA Cup tie with Manchester United on Friday night.

Lampard, who was appointed a year ago, has overseen just one win in his past 10 Premier League matches. The Blues currently find themselves inside the relegation zone on goal difference.

But even though it looks as though Lampard has been granted a stay of execution, that hasn’t stopped the bookies from revealing who they think will be next in charge of the Blues should the former England international be sacked.

Priced at 11/8 with Betfair, former Blues forward Wayne Rooney is the favourite to replace Lampard. Rooney rejected the chance to speak to Everton's hierarchy about replacing Rafa Benitez ahead of Lampard’s appointment last year.

Rooney, a boyhood Blues fan who joined the club aged nine, had two spells as a forward at Goodison and was in charge of Derby County at the time he rejected an approach from Everton to be interviewed for their manager’s job

Sean Dyche is the second favourite with Betfair, priced at 3/1. Dyche has been out of work since leaving Burnley back in April.

David Moyes is the third favourite, priced at 7/1, with Nuno Espirito Santo available at 8/1. Former Everton boss Roberto Martinez is 10/1 with Betfair to return to Goodison.

The rest of the betting sees Marcelo Bielsa priced at 12/1, Duncan Ferguson at 16/1, and Ange Postecoglou, Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers all 20/1 to replace Lampard.
