Next Everton manager: Eddie Howe 'embarrassed' to be linked and insists he is committed to Bournemouth

Eddie Howe says he is “embarrassed” to be linked with the vacant managerial job at Everton.

Howe has been tipped as a potential successor to Marco Silva at Goodison Park.

But the Englishman insists he remains committed to Bournemouth, who face Liverpool this weekend.

“First of all, I am very disappointed for Marco,” Howe said ahead of his side’s meeting with the Premier League leaders.

“Secondly, I am 100 per cent committed to this club and I am a little bit embarrassed with the speculation if I am honest after our recent run of results.

“It’s come at a bad time because people will then question whether your work has been affected by what’s being said outside.”

Silva was sacked after a heavy Merseyside Derby defeat this week after an extended run of poor form.

He was in charge of Everton for a season and a half. Former manager David Moyes and globe-trotter Vitor Pereira, currently in charge at Shanghai SIPG, are believed to be among the leading contenders to replace Silva.

Howe’s side are experiencing their own rough spell, with Bournemouth having recorded just the one win from their last ten games, but Howe is convinced their form will pick up soon.

“I am invigorated and energised to get results here. There isn’t a problem with my energy levels or my enthusiasm.

“This is a tough league and we are in a tough run but those challenges are what inspire me.

“We all need to come together and show the unity and the fight for the challenge.”
