Next confirms exact time stores will close in Wales for lockdown

Next has confirmed when stores across Wales will close due to the fire-break lockdown.

The Welsh Government has outlined details of the two week circuit-breaker which comes into force on Friday, October 23 at 6pm. You can find all the details on the lockdown here.

When the new rules come into force all leisure and non-essential retail will be closed across Wales in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus, including clothes shops, furniture shops and car dealerships among many others.

Following the announcement, Next has outlined details for its customers, including the exact time it will close and when shoppers can expect it to reopen again.

The high-street store only began reopening branches in phases in late June, but like all non-essential retailers in Wales, it will have to shut up shop again this week.

Next has confirmed to WalesOnline that all Welsh stores will close at 6pm this Friday, October 23. Essential shops, however, such as B&M, Home Bargains and Wilko can remain open. You can read their response to the lockdown here.

It means the many Next branches that usually close at 7pm and 8pm will be shutting earlier than usual on Friday in order to adhere to new Government guidelines.

The store plans to re-open its doors at 9am on Monday, November 9.

When it comes to shopping and personal services during the fire-break lockdown, the Welsh Government is encouraging people to use online services.

A statement on its website reads: "All leisure and non-essential retail will be closed.

"This includes clothes shops, furniture shops and car dealerships among many others.

"A full list of types of business required to close will be available in our guidance on business closures. Shops allowed to remain open include supermarkets and other food retailers, pharmacies, banks and post offices.

"However, wherever possible people should avoid unnecessary visits to these, and use alternative approaches such as online services and deliveries."

Next will continue to offer its online shopping service just like it did during the first lockdown back in March of this year.
