Next Chelsea manager: The shock second favourite behind Frank Lampard to replace Maurizio Sarri

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira has emerged as one of the front runners to replace Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge, according to bookmakers.

Sarri has been under pressure from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in recent months, despite a third place finish and making it to the league Cup and Europa League final this season. Inconsistent performances have led to the manager's future being under question.

The Italian has also been linked with Juventus, who are parting ways with head coach Massimiliano Allegri at the end of the season. Sarri has reportedly been identified as a top target by chiefs at the Italian club.

If Sarri does depart Stamford Bridge after the Europa League final, then the search will be on for his successor. Club legend Frank Lampard has been mentioned for the role. He is currently managing at Championship side Derby County, having led them to the playoff final in his first season in management.

Lampard is currently the bookmakers favourite to take over, but the odds show former Arsenal and Manchester City man Patrick Vieira as second favourite behind the Derby boss.

Vieira currently managed Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, who he lead to a seventh place finish in the French top division this season. The former player started his coaching career with Manchester City's youth teams, before going over to America to take charge of New York City FC. The Frenchman returned to his home nation to manage Nice in the summer of 2018.

According to Oddschecker, Vieira is priced as low as 5/1 with two different bookmakers. Frank Lampard is however the clear favourite to be the next manager with odds as low as 1/4 to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
