Next Bristol Rovers manager odds with Widdrington, Cook and Cowley among front-runners

Bristol Rovers are searching for their next manager after Ben Garner was sacked on Saturday.

The Gas relieved the 40-year-old of his duties after a 4-1 defeat to Fleetwood Town which left Rovers 18th in League One.

Tommy Widdrington has been placed in temporary charge ahead of Wednesday's EFL Trophy tie with Chelsea U21s, and he is the early favourite with the bookmakers to take the job full time.

Nigel Adkins, Danny Cowley, Paul Tisdale and Paul Cook are also among the front-runners, according to the Oddsmakers.

Garner was in charge for 11 months, but won just six games and the defeat to Fleetwood at the Mem proved to be the final straw for the club's board, who announced his departure shortly after 6pm.

Here are the early odds for the Mem vacancy, according to The Sack Race.

  • Tommy Widdrington - 2/1
  • Nigel Adkins - 8/1
  • Danny Cowley - 8/1
  • Paul Tisdale - 10/1
  • Paul Cook - 12/1
  • Paul Heckingbottom - 14/1
  • Graham Alexander - 16/1
  • Gary Bowyer - 16/1
  • Sol Campbell - 16/1
  • Ian Holloway - 16/1
  • Steve Cotterill - 20/1
  • Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - 20/1
  • Michael Flynn - 25/1
  • Robbie Fowler 25/1
  • Paul Ince 25/1
