'Next big thing!' - Arsenal fans go nuts over what Folarin Balogun did against Wolves U23's

On an evening where all the talk was about Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney returning from injury, another Arsenal starlet caught the eye against Wolves in an Under-23's clash on Friday.

Folarin Balogun scored both goals in the 2-2 draw at New Bucks Head Stadium, taking his tally to six goals in as many appearances this season after making the step up from the Under-18's.

The forward is one of several talented youngsters in the Gunners' academy and is pushing for a first-team debut.

With Eddie Nketiah joining Leeds United on loan for the season, an opportunity is there for the likes of Balogun as well as Tyreece-John Jules to step up as back-up to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

And with Alexandre Lacazette not expected back until next month, there's a chance for one of the Arsenal youngsters to feature in next week's Carabao Cup round three tie against Nottingham Forest.

That's if Aubameyang is rested.

Speaking of the Gunners' leading scorer this season, Balogun has previously admitted that he models his game on the 30-year-old.

"I am the sort of striker that likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and make runs behind them, similar to the way that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays," said Balogun last season in an interview with  Arsenal.com .

"I’ve trained a few times with the first team and I feel that I’ve benefitted from being involved with them, especially when playing against experienced defenders which forces you to find different ways of getting in on goal as what works at lower levels does not always work against them."

The future is certainly bright for the teenager and should he continue finding the back of the net on a regular basis for U23's then a first-team chance surely won't be too far away.

Take a look at what's been said about Balogun on Twitter following his brace against Wolves...
