Following Arsenal's 3-0 loss to Manchester City, Vinai Venkatesham looks to be stepping up the chase for Unai Emery's permanent replacement.
The club's chief executive was pictured leaving the home of former Gunner and Manchester City assistant coach, Mikel Arteta in the early hours of the morning according to The Mirror.
Arteta was linked to the Arsenal head coach role when Arsene Wenger departed in 2018 - making the club's eight-man shortlist - and football.london reported on Friday that Arteta was the leading contender for the job.
The Gunners' club lawyer, Huss Fahmy was also seen leaving the Spaniard's home. Fahmy is understood to be Arsenal's chief negotiator.
This comes just hours after Ljungberg had publicly urged the Arsenal hierarchy to make a decision on who would become the next permanent head coach of Arsenal.
"It's a great honour to do this but Per (Mertesacker) is an academy manager and is doing two jobs in one go," he said in his post-match press conference.
"I've said I think it needs to be cleared up, to make a decision so everyone knows.
"That's something I've said but it's totally up to the club. I'm very honoured and I'll do what I can but it'll be good to make a decision regardless of what it is."
Since taking over on an interim basis, the Swede has managed five games, losing three times, drawing one and picking up his only win to date against West Ham.
Following the game, with his assistant's future very much the topic of discussion, Pep Guardiola was asked for his views on Arteta's situation.
"He is part of the huge success we’ve had. An important important part," he told Sky Sports.
"You know I think ultimately he knows because we’ve spoke two or three times on my opinion with him at the club about Mikel. What will happen will happen.
"I think he’s part of our staff so what is going to happen I don’t know. We talked. We’ve had offers. Had many offers. More than us.
"At the end it’s personal. If he wants to talk we’ll talk but it’s private. I don’t want to make him uncomfortable."
