Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has explained why the Gunners must make a decision on their next manager very soon.
Unai Emery departed the Emirates last week and his former assistant Freddie Ljungberg has taken over on an interim basis.
The likes of former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers and Man City assistant Mikel Arteta are in the top five candidates alongside Ljungberg when it comes to the betting odds.
Ljungberg's first game in charge saw Arsenal draw 2-2 at Norwich City and it appears that the Gunners are not in a rush to make a long-term decision on Emery's replacement.
Campbell, however, believes waiting even just two more weeks from now would be a major error of judgement from Arsenal's board.
"Freddie Ljungberg is the interim at the moment but Arsenal really have to get the right guy in as fast as possible. There are still enough games left in the season to salvage something," Campbell, who was speaking on behalf GentingBet, told football.london.
"The longer they leave it, the worse it's going to be. Freddie is a nice guy but they need an experienced manager to come in.
"A couple of months would be too late. Truthfully I'll be honest, they have got to make moves in the next week to two weeks maximum because there are a lot of big games coming up.
"If you wait two months it would be too late. They need a man at the helm who can steer this ship. They need a manager who has experience who can get some of the deadwood out.
"There is some deadwood at Arsenal and it needs clearing out. It needs a manager to come in and be ruthless. That's what Arsenal need."
