Carlo Ancelotti remains the bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Unai Emery as Arsenal manager, but the odds have shortened significantly for both Diego Simeone and Roberto Martinez.
As reported by Standard Sport on Wednesday, Arsenal will seek talks with Ancelotti as the consider the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Juventus manager as a permanent successor to Unai Emery.
But what of Simeone and Martinez? Well they’ve moved into the reckoning according to the bookmakers, with both now priced lower than Eddie Howe and Rafa Benitez respectively.
Both are priced at 16/1, sitting them in the top ten of candidates.
Martinez has Premier League experience having managed both Wigan Athletic and Everton before moving into international management with Belgium where he worked alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Simeone, meanwhile, would be a popular choice with the fans and would represent a major coup for Arsenal. Whether they could prise him away from Atletico Madrid is another question, especially Atleti having qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
