RUNNERS will canter along Throsby Creek again from February 20 as Newy Parkrun makes its return from COVID-19 hiatus.
The free community event, which runs from 8am each Saturday, announced its return this week in an appeal for volunteers to help get it back up to speed.
Participants have been urged to keep an eye out as further detail emerges about how the course and plans will be modified to meet social distancing rules.
The start and finish area will shift to the corner of Elizabeth Street, near the one-kilometre marker, to allow runners to spread out at the beginning and end of their race.
Other Parkrun events, including Maitland, have resumed around the Hunter already, but the Carrington event announced in December it was "awaiting approval from council for course changes".
Started in 2012, Newy Parkrun has become one of the nation's largest. It was the seventh to begin in Australia.
