A bridge in Co Fermanagh is to undergo £325,000 reinforcement works which will begin next month.
The Galloon Bridge on the Galloon Road, Newtownbutler, is to receive the £325,000 bridge strengthening upgrade, with the project being brought forward by the Department for Infrastructure.
The work proposed involves phased concrete repairs to the underside of the bridge which will result in reduced weight restrictions on certain days during the construction period.
Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: “This significant investment to strengthen and upgrade the bridge will benefit everyone who uses the Galloon bridge.
“I would like to thank the public and local residents in advance for their cooperation and ask users of the Upper Lough Erne Waterway Navigation System to be mindful of the diversionary signage in place whilst the works take place.”
Erne East Councillor Thomas O'Reilly said: “The news that resurfacing work is set to get underway on the Galloon Bridge next month is a major boost to the local area."
