Newtownards gymnast Rhys McClenaghan tells all on "anti-sex" beds at Toyko Olympics

Irish gymnast Rhys McClenaghan has told all on the apparent "anti-sex" beds at the Tokyo Olympics.

This is amid rumours that they were designed to prevent competitors from having sex at the accommodation.

The recycled cardboard beds at the Olympic Village are designed to be environmentally sustainable, despite the rumours which have been circulating creating a social media storm.

The Newtownards man filmed himself bouncing on his bed to see if it would break under sudden movements.

He took to Twitter and said: "In today's episode of fake news at the Olympic Games, the beds that are meant to be anti-sex.

"They are made out of cardboard, yes, but apparently they are meant to break under any sudden movements."

The 21-year-old then revealed: "It's fake news!"

Christian Klaue, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Director of the Olympics shared Rhys's video and said: "Getting a lot of questions right now to @iocmedia about the sustainable cardboard beds of the Olympic Village.

" @McClenaghanRhys put his to the test. Here we go."

The video has since been retweeted 2.7K times and has received nearly 12.6K likes.
