Newtownards gun attack being investigated by police

Shots have been fired through the front door of a house, police say.

Detectives are appealing for information following the “report of shots fired at a property in the Blenheim Drive area of Newtownards on Sunday night (August 9th)”, the PSNI said in a statement issued on Monday morning.

They added: “It was reported that a number of shots were fired through the front door of the house shortly after 11.30pm on Sunday evening. There were no reports of any injuries and enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.”

Detectives “would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident, to contact them in Bangor on 101 quoting reference number 2558 09/08/20”, the PSNI added.

They said witnesses can also submit a report online using on the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or ring Crimestoppers anonyously on 0800 555 111.
