Newtownards fire: Emergency services tackle blaze

Firefighters were last night called to the scene of a fire at a chip shop in Co Down.

Crews were called to the premises on Pound Street in Newtownards at 9.25pm on Tuesday night, May 28.

Area commander Mark Smyth said there were three fire engines and one aerial appliance at the scene and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. One CAF jet is also in use due to it being a fire in a chip shop.

It's understood no-one was seriously injured in the blaze.
