Newtownards attack: Man in hospital after being assaulted by six armed men

A man is in hospital with multiple injuries after reportedly being assaulted by six armed men in Newtownards.

The incident was reported to police at around 11.45pm on Thursday, October 14.

According to the report, a man was assaulted at flats in the Queen Street area.

Detectives were told the man was assaulted by a group of up to six men, dressed in dark clothing and armed with weapons.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance following the assault and is receiving treatment for multiple injuries, including head injuries.

An investigation is now underway and detectives are asking anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Queen Street area on Thursday night, or anyone with any information which could assist with their enquiries, to contact them in Bangor on 101 quoting reference number 2201 14/10/21.
