Newtownabbey police on routine patrol come to aid of woman who had collapsed

Police on a routine patrol in Newtownabbey came to the aid of a woman who'd collapsed on the street.

Officers had been driving along Arthur Road on Friday afternoon when they came across the woman who'd taken ill.

A witness told Belfast Live that officers joined passers-by in coming to the woman's aid and calling an ambulance. She was later taken to hospital.

A PSNI spokesman told Belfast Live: "Police on patrol came across a woman in distress at the Arthur Road area of Newtownabbey on Friday January 24.

"Officers assisted in placing the female in the recovery position, then waited at the scene until paramedics arrived and took the woman to hospital."
