Newtownabbey arson appeal after car torched in early morning attack

Police are appealing for information after a car was set alight in an arson attack in Newtownabbey on Thursday.

The PSNI said it was reported that the window of Volkswagen Passat was smashed before it was set on fire.

The incident was reported shortly before 5:15am during the early hours of morning of July 30, police say.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Graham said: “It is reported that a window on the vehicle was smashed and an accelerant poured in through the window and set alight.

"NIFRS attended and extinguished the fire, thankfully no one was injured however the vehicle was completely destroyed.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 213 30/07/20.
