Newton Stewart's Crafty Distillery wins top award at 2020 Scottish Gin Awards

The best gin in Scotland is made in Galloway – and that’s official.

Crafty Distillery is toasting success at the 2020 Scottish Gin Awards.

The Newton Stewart spirits plant scooped Distillery of the Year at the online ceremony.

It fought off stiff competition from dozens of rivals to claim the coveted title.

Judges praised Crafty’s strong international growth and “locally crafted, high quality product values”.

Delighted founder and owner Graham Taylor paid tribute to his team’s achievement.

He said: “Winning this award is a proud moment.

“It proves that by going the extra, more costly mile to deliver the highest levels of taste and quality, has not limited our growth.

“Instead, it has attracted many customers and carved out a unique space for our spirits and our brand.

“Our focus on innovation within any spirits category we enter will ensure our distillery continues to thrive.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the next phase of growth planned for our brand and our spirits.

“We look forward to sharing the latest crafty plans with everyone soon.”

Crafty began production in 2017 and last year welcomed around 20,000 visitors.

It is one of the few distilleries in the world that distills using their very own spirit.

Most gin producers buy in their raw spirit before adding the botanicals.

The factory employs seven staff and is already exporting to nine countries around the world.
