A Glasgow woman was rushed to hospital after being mauled by a dog in Newton Mearns.

The woman was left covered in bites on her arms and torso after being attacked by the pet on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services raced to the scene just after 1pm upon reports.

The lady was later taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for emergency surgery.

A source told the Daily Record: "The attack happened in Cherrybank Gardens, in Newton Mearns.

"It was a miniature bully and mauled another dog walker.

"She had injuries to both arms and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to have surgery.

"These are life changing injuries - she will be scarred for life."

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "About 1.14pm on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, officers were called to the report of a woman being attacked by a dog in Cherrybank Gardens in Newton Mearns.

"As a result, the woman was taken to hospital with a number of bites to her arms and torso.

"A dog was seized by police and a report is being prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."

No arrests have been made at the time of writing.

A spokesman for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said a report had not yet been received.
