Newton Mearns school and nursery closes after coronavirus case linked to campus

A Glasgow school and nursery is closing after a coronavirus case was linked to the campus.

Isobel Mair in Newton Mearns is warning pupils and staff to stay away as a 'precautionary measure'.

The East Renfrewshire facility will shut it's doors from Monday until further notice.

Thirty-two new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Scotland.

The  Scottish Government  revealed the new cases this afternoon - which totals 153.

Taking to social media to warn the public they school said: "Isobel Mair School and Nursery will be closed on Mon 16 Mar as a precautionary measure after emergence of a coronavirus case linked to the school.

"The school will reopen as soon as possible.

"Class Yell and Unst pupils and staff who attend Woodfarm High can go to school as normal."

The  Scottish FA  has cancelled all domestic professional and grassroots football until further notice, and the First Minister  Nicola Sturgeon  also revealed gatherings of over 500 are to be banned from Monday.

The First Minister announced the action in Scotland to protect the resilience of the emergency services until the impact of the virus has lessened substantially.

A total of 4,240 tests have been concluded in Scotland with 4,087 negative.. The Department of Health confirmed 1,140 have now tested positive for the virus across the UK.
