Newton Mearns attack leaves one man hospitalised

A man is in hospital following an attack in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire.

Police were called to Crookfur Road at 12.30pm to reports of a man being injured.

A 36-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The southbound off-slip at junction four of the M77 is currently closed due to a police incident.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: " #M77 S/B J4 Crookfur Road off-slip is CLOSED due to a police incident and will be for some time."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police officers were called today at 12.30pm to Crookfur road in Newton Mearns to reports of a man injured officers remain at the scene.

"A 36-year-old man was assaulted and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"His injuries are not thought to be life threatening."
