Newsquest has taken a massive hit by selling off a print facility in Bolton. It spent £17m nine years ago to set up the plant at Wingates industrial park.
But it closed down the presses last year and has now sold the site to a pharmaceutical manufacturer M&A Pharmachem for just £2m.
The plant was used by Newsquest, the British arm of the US publisher Gannett, to publish the Bolton News, Blackburn's Lancashire Telegraph, the Bury Times and 16 other titles. These are now printed in North Wales
