Oct. 27--Media heiress Lydia Hearst has bought a gated estate in Los Feliz for $11 million -- putting it among the priciest home sales ever for the community -- according to real estate sources outside the transaction.
Known variously as the Victor Rossetti Residence and Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 915, the Italianate-style home was designed in 1928 by architect Paul Williams. Among his signature details are the Corinthian columns and a dramatic staircase.
Set on close to a half-acre, the 8,240-square-foot, three-story residence has formal living and dining rooms, a den/library, a media room, offices, a gym, a wine room, eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
The grounds include a barbecue, a swimming pool and spa, cabana and a fire pit.
Views take in the hillsides and cityscape.
Hearst, 31, is the great granddaughter of newspaper publishing giant William Randolph Hearst and the daughter of Patricia Hearst-Shaw, whose 1974 kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army made national headlines. The fashion model and actress will be in the upcoming films "The Downside of Bliss" and "Guys Reading Poems."
The property listed in September at $12 million and previously sold nine years ago for $3.2 million.
