Newsnight viewers claim to see a frog hopping through House of Commons

Eagle-eyed Newsnight viewers were surprised to spot what appeared to be a frog hopping through the House of Commons.

A slow motion video of the scene was posted on Twitter by a viewer who was watching Monday's episode.

In the footage, the creature appears to hop across the floor underneath a table as Labour MP Kerry McCarthy spoke about the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s drug licensing.

“Watching #newsnight and, when @KerryMP was shown talking about NICE drug licensing in #hoc today, was that a frog under the table? #Newsnight #slomo,” a Twitter user with the name Judgement Dave wrote.

It is not the first time critters may have been spotted in Parliament.

In 2017, video emerged of a mouse darting along the bottom of counters where meals are prepared, according to the Mirror.

In 2016, Parliament spent a record £132,000 on pest control and 1,700 traps were laid throughout the buildings.
