Among all the theorising about paywalls, it is worth noting how they are actually working in real life. Newsday.com went behind a paywall in October ($5 per week or $260 per year). The New York Observer reports that three months later it has 35 subscribers. (It should be pointed out that newspaper subscribers get free access).
