READY TO VENTURE is ready to thrive now that she tackles 10 furlongs for the first time in the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes (2.15) at Goodwood.
The William Haggas-trained daughter of Kingman has achieved a British Horseracing Authority rating of 94 after a conditions-race third to Creative Flair at Ascot last month.
The winner of a Yarmouth maiden last September is out of Wonderstruck, whom Haggas trained to finish a short-head second in the Group 3 Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock Park in 2015.
The step up in distance looks very much the right move for Tom Marquand’s mount, who holds an entry in the Irish Oaks at the Curragh in July, and Ready To Venture has more to offer on the fourth outing of her career.
After a head defeat at 150-1 at Salisbury eight days ago, DOWNSMAN gets the vote to go one better in the Join Racing TV Now Handicap (4.25) at Haydock Park.
Although his SP suggested he was a no-hoper, there was no element of fluke about Downsman’s performance.
Soft ground clearly suits the Jim Boyle trainee, and coming back from a mile and a half to 10 furlongs should not be a hindrance as the son of Fast Company bids for a first win at his sixth attempt.
