IRISH trainer Ger Lyons can celebrate a successful first UK visit for POWER UNDER ME (2.16,nap) in the Listed Ben Marshall Stakes over a mile at Nottingham.
Having been running over six furlongs for most of his career in Ireland, including when beating Mooniesta in a Listed race at Cork in April, the four-year-old – wearing a tongue strap for the first time – stepped up to a mile 11 days ago to win a 12-runner Listed race at Leopardstown by one and a half lengths.
The trip clearly suited the gelding well and he is sure to put in another good run. His main danger will be Cash , who was last seen finishing a short-head second to Westover in the Group 3 Bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown. But that was back in April, and he may need the run.
MAIN FACT (2.46, nb) won a staggering nine races in a row on both the Flat and over hurdles in 2020, including when winning the racingtv.com/freetrial Handicap at this course.
David Pipe’s nine-year-old lines up for the race again this afternoon and should trim much fitter after a decent effort in an apprentice handicap at Newbury 12 days ago, when finishing a quiet fifth of 14 off top weight following a 582-day lay-off.
