News reporter accidentally applied face filter to live weather report

A news reporter left viewers in stitches after accidentally applying a filter during a Facebook Live broadcast about the weather.

Justin Hinton was preparing to report on snow fall in North Carolina for ABC's News 13 when he accidentally activated a filter generator on the phone he was using.

When the seven-minute broadcast began, Justin was completely unaware of what his audience were seeing.

The filter generator turned the reporter into a wolf, a wizard, and gave him huge googley eyes and a purple moustache among other ridiculous disguises.

After filming for around five minutes, the reporter started to notice his viewers commenting on his strange new looks.

"Wait Misty, did I have a weird face?," he responded to one of them.

Laughing off the blunder, he then explained there were 'special effects on the phone' and that it wasn't done on purpose.

"Now I'm excited to look back at this video and see what's happening to my face," he added.

Justin later took to his own Facebook page to explain what had happened during the broadcast.

"Right before going live on Facebook on the WLOS ABC 13 station account to talk about snow, I somehow activated a filter generator," he told fans.

"The photog I was working with said something about the screen having weird faces. He didn’t elaborate, so I said it would probably go away.

"Needless to say, it did not go away."

Luckily, his bosses found the mistake as funny as he did and he added: "If you can’t laugh at yourself, what’s the point of laughter?"

The wacky props were also a hit with people watching the Facebook Live broadcast, with fans calling for more filters to be used on weather reports.

One said: "The space helmet and googly eyes were the BEST!!!"

Another commented: "I can't stop laughing. Filter is so funny!"
