A brand new restaurant serving locally-sourced food and craft beers from across Yorkshire has opened in Leeds city centre today (Wednesday).
Mad Frans has thrown open its doors on the ground floor of 6 Wellington Place, in the heart of the city's financial sector on Whitehall Road.
Customers are being promised environmentally friendly dining and fresh ingredients sourced from local Yorkshire producers, while there will also be live music acts throughout the year.
Some of the weird and wonderful dishes that people can look forward to at Mad Frans include smoked ham hock and mature cheddar bites, monkfish masala and a bourbon sticky toffee pudding.
Head chef Gary Pickles used to live in Leeds and has worked alongside celebrities such as Gordon Ramsey, while he also appeared on TV with Michelle Roux Jr.
He said: "I'm excited about the concept we're bringing - whether people are wanting a breakfast on the go, or a Sunday lunch, one thing they can be sure of is a first-class meal, which is made fresh on the premises from scratch every day.
"I'm passionate about championing local food and drink suppliers and we hope the people of Leeds enjoy the experience Mad Frans will offer as much as we have enjoyed creating it."
