A shop in Newport has been handed an improvement notice by the council after it was found to have breached a number of coronavirus guidelines.
Baneswell Express on Baneswell Road was given the notice following an inspection by enforcement officers at Newport council on Tuesday, January 26.
On inspection of the premises, inspectors discovered that:
- There was no prominent signage outside the door asking customers to wear face coverings
- There was no hand sanitiser available for those entering the shop
- There was no signage limiting the number of people allowed to enter the shop
- There were no floor markings to indicate social distancing or any one-way system
- There was no screeen at the counter or till area where people would come within two metres of each other
The premises has been given 48 hours to improve compliance with the regulations or face further action.
Five businesses were handed improvement notices in Newport last week.
The Cafe at Ridgeway was issued a notice last Tuesday after it was found customers using its takeaway service last weekend were not adhering to social distancing.
And last Thursday, three shops on the same street were issued with similar notices.

Since last August, local authorities in Wales have had the power to take action against businesses or premises who are believed not to be adhering to coronavirus guidelines.
