Newport man charged with drink driving in Clevedon during coronavirus lockdown

A 32-year-old man has been charged with drink driving following an incident in Clevedon during the coronavirus lockdown.

Daniel Newport, of Dolphin Street, Newport was arrested in Central Way, on Monday (May 11), after allegedly consuming three times the legal limit of alcohol before driving.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said officer's tests at the scene showed Newport had 135mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit is 35mg.

Newport will appear at North Somerset Magistrates' Court on June 9.
