Newport County move into League Two play-offs with one game remaining

Newport County are one win away from making the League Two play-offs after beating Oldham Athletic in a must-win match on Tuesday night.

The 2-0 victory saw the Exiles jump into the final play-off position of seventh with one match to play.

It's been a remarkable turnaround for the team, who were on the brink of relegation from the Football League just two years ago.

Goals from Mark O'Brien and Robbie Willmott sealed the result, and they now travel to Morecombe on the final day where they will realistically need a win with a host of teams in striking distance.

Newport County manager Michael Flynn told the BBC: "I thought we were poor in the first half, we were a little bit apprehensive and there were a couple of indecisive decisions.

"But in the second half I thought we were excellent - the clearances were better, we played a little more football, were menacing going forward and we should have scored a few more.

"One win does it but I'm not getting carried away at all."
