Newport County boss Michael Flynn has say on Bolton Wanderers win and Nathan Delfouneso's disallowed goal

Newport County boss Michael Flynn believes Bolton Wanderers will 'come good' eventually and feels it would have been a 'suckerpunch' had Nathan Delfouneso's equaliser stood.

The Exiles inflicted Bolton's fifth successive loss of the season in all competitions at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Tristan Abrahams netted twice after the break to ensure Newport's unbeaten start to their League Two campaign continued.

And Flynn beleives the margin of victory over Wanderers could have been even greater if the Exiles had taken their chances.

Bolton had been tipped by the bookmakers as among the favourites for the title before the season began but are yet to manage results under new head coach Ian Evatt.

But Flynn feels that Wanderers will come good under Evatt.

He said: “It was an excellent performance. Coming up, it was a long away trip really. I thought we were excellent.

“We could have scored six or seven today if I’m honest. I just said to Coops (Brandon Cooper) the centre back, he could have had a hat-trick of headers, Liam Shepherd could have had a few.

"Tristan (Abrahams) could have had a hat-trick, Josh Sheehan missed a chance.

"It was a superb away performance against a team that are going to come good.

"You can see that they've got good players and Ian is obviously trying to get them into how he wants them to play and I’m sure they’ll come good."

Inbetween Abrahams' goals, Wanderers thought they had scored an equaliser through Nathan Delfouneso from close range, but it was disallowed following intervention from one of the linesmen for handball.

And Flynn praised the officials for making the right call, adding that it would have been a suckerpunch for his team had the goal stood.

He said: “Yeah it would have been (a suckerpunch) and, to be fair the referee said he didn’t see it, but the linesman’s made the right call.

"I’ve seen it again, he’s made the right call and it was a brave call, so fair play to him.

"They get a lot of stick, but when they make the right decisions like that, they’ve got to get them right for me and he did."
