Permanent fencing and gates will be installed at a public park in Newport after residents raised concerns over caravans illegally pitching up there.
Residents in Duffryn raised concerns in July after 30 caravans arrived on Sandpiper Park, a public park often used by children playing and for sports.
One resident reported that while an initial group had not caused trouble, a number of caravans arrived at the park in a second incident and claimed adjacent woods were left in a "disgusting mess."
There have also been other reports of large amounts of rubbish, late-night noise, blaring music and quad biking disrupting locals.
Newport Council has now confirmed that work to install a permanent barrier gate and access track at Sandpiper Park is starting this week.
Councillor Roger Jeavons, deputy leader and cabinet member for city services, said: “Safe access to and enjoyment of open spaces for local residents is a priority for the council. We have worked with the ward member for Tredegar Park and this work will form part of a number of measures that will provide additional security to this area.
"A permanent barrier gate will prevent unauthorised entry and a chicane fence barrier on the existing footway will maintain safer pedestrian access."
In September, large boulders were put down by the council around the park's entrance to prevent further trespassing.
Resident Dale Robins said the new boulders had been "very welcomed" by the community and said there had been a number of issues associated with the park.
"It's not just been about one thing, or one group," he said at the time. "We've had cars being driven onto the field and set on fire, vans coming late at night and fly tipping in the woods, unloading hazardous waste, asbestos and things."
