Newman pens anti-Bush song

After Neil Young's Let's Impeach the President and, er, the Rolling Stones' Sweet Neo-Con, another elder statesman of music has lent his voice to the chorus of disapproval against George Bush.

As you might expect, Randy Newman's song A Few Words in Defence of Our Country is the wittiest anti-Dubya protest song yet. Available on download only, the New York Times printed an abridged version of the lyrics here.

Newman added: "I don't like to write songs about current events. This one, for instance, won't be relevant when this administration is no longer with us. It's such a unique administration, though, that I thought it would be interesting to write something about it. I don't think we'll ever have one like it again."
