Newmains United hosting free casino night at Motherwell's Fir Park

Newmains United hope to see their numbers come up against Muirkirk on Saturday – before hosting their first ever casino night.

You wouldn’t have bet on United pushing promotion-chasing Lesmahagow all the way only to lose 5-4 in a game that also had two red cards and a missed penalty.

Goalkeeper Martyn Meek gambled correctly to save The Gow’s spotkick while winger Cammy Browning also starred in the nine-goal thriller.

Now they’re hoping for a better deal at Victoria Park against the Ayrshire side this Saturday ahead of their player of the year show at Motherwell’s Fir Park that evening.

Free food will be provided by home shirt sponsors The Pink Turban while there will be music from Dougie DJ. There will also be tables for roulette, 21 and blackjack organised by Nevada Nights Fun Casino.

Doors to the Davie Cooper Suite open at 7.30pm, with awards presented for the player of the year and players’ player of the year.

Boss Paul Davies said: “It’s the first time the club has held a night like this and we’d encourage anyone to come along.

“You don’t have to have a direct association with the football club and it would be great to see as many people as possible.”
