Newmains shop owner goes through with chest wax to raise cash for 2020 gala day

A Newmains shop owner went through the pain barrier to raise funds for the village’s 2020 gala day.

Tony Rea, of Clem’s Shop, offered to get his chest waxed to raise cash for the gala committee and invited customers to donate to the cause.

Over £650 was raised with Tony being true to his word and going through with the chest waxing.

Gala committee secretary Mary Gilfillan said: “We were delighted that Tony decided to help us with some fundraising.

“We were in his shop one day talking about what we could do to raise some money for the 2020 gala. Someone mentioned that he should get his chest waxed and it went from there.

“He had a bucket in his shop and customers were putting a lot of money. It was a good amount and the money will all go towards making the 2020 gala a real success.”
