Newmains florist hands over rainbow floral design to Wishaw hospital staff

The sight of rainbow pictures up and down the country has been one of the defining images of lockdown.

And one Newmains florist has went one step further with a design paying tribute to NHS workers.

Pixie’s Petals came up with the stunning floral piece and dropped off the artwork at University Hospital Wishaw this week. Catherine Allen co-owns the flower shop along with daughter Yvonne Brodie.

She said: “We thought the rainbow display would be a great way of saying thank you to our NHS staff and keyworkers.

“We were delighted to be able to get down to the hospital and present the display to the staff there.”

Although the flower shop remains closed due to lockdown, the Pixie’s Petals team have been working hard arranging flowers for various occasions.

Catherine added: “We have been working at a bigger premises just now. The shop remains closed but we are hopeful of opening up as soon as we are able to.”

This week the Wishaw Press are re-launching our Say it with Flowers competition.

The competition, run in conjunction with Pixie’s Petals, was incredibly popular with readers for more than 18 months.

And now, as we are living in unprecedented times, we are asking readers to nominate keyworkers or community volunteers who are going above and beyond during this crisis.

Email news@wishawpress.co.uk with the person’s name, the reason for the nomination and a phone number for yourself.
