Newmains boss fears vandals are targeting the club amid more damage

Newmains boss Paul Davies has concerns the club are being targeted by vandals during lockdown after counting the cost of more damage.

The padlock on the gates to Victoria Park was found destroyed last week, following an attempted break-in earlier this month.

Co-manager boss Davies said: “After the break-in we had been going up to check the ground on a regular basis.

“This week somebody has vandalised the access to the ground by damaging the lock.

“Our chairman could not get the padlock open and it meant time and money had to be put towards fixing it. This is time and money that would have otherwise been invested into the club for the community.

“We as a club are trying so hard along with other volunteers in the area to try to make Victoria Park a nice area for sport and recreation.

“I can’t understand why people would go to such great lengths to do this.

“Sometimes I think there might be a resentment from a section of the community as more and more it feels like we are being targeted.”
