Newlywed Anna Geary likened the “after-wedding lull” to the same comedown following an All-Ireland win.
The RTE star, who was captain as Cork won the Senior Camogie Championship in 2014, married her long-term partner Kevin Sexton two weeks ago.
And despite fitting in moving house and starting a new radio gig on Today FM since the big day, Anna admitted there is a low after the buzz and hype running up to the special day.
The 32-year-old told the Irish Mirror: “For me it is very much the same, the equivalent of winning an All-Ireland and you are celebrating for a few days and there is a bit of a lull because you are celebrating for a few days and then you go back to reality.
“It was the same with Dancing With The Stars when it was all over, you know you do have that kind of low. But with every high comes a low, it is the equilibrium of it all.
“But I suppose so many people had told me about it and we went away for a few days after it on a mini-moon just to kind of take time for oursleves and relax and debrief and sleep.”
Reflecting on her star-studded bash in Cork, Anna revealed she had a lucky escape from a storm on her big day.
She said: “It was fab. We couldn’t have asked for more. What we wanted was the ceremony first, the most important part, and then the party and even the weather was great.
“On Thursday it was so bad and then on Friday people were able to sit out and we were able to have our drinks reception outside with no jackets, so whoever was looking down on us did a fabulous job.
“It was glorious and then on Sunday it started lashing rain again. So we just had that 48-hour window.”
Meanwhile, getting her head in the game for her return to the screen with RTE’s Ireland’s Fittest Family, the reigning champion said she’s aiming for three-in-a-row, adding: “To be honest I think there is an added pressure that comes when you are the reigning champion but I think it’s self-inflicted more than anything.”
- The hit show returns on Sunday at 6.30pm on RTE One.
