A pair of recently signed prospects are headed to fight each other at UFC on ESPN 5.
Verbal agreements are in place for a flyweight bout between Hannah Goldy (2-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Miranda Granger (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at the Aug. 3 event from Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. MMAjunkie learned of the pending booking from a person with knowledge of the situation. The person requested anonymity because the UFC hasn’t made the booking official.
Granger’s signing and short-notice promotion to UFC on ESPN 5 was announced Monday by regional promotion CFFC, where she held the strawweight belt. Former UFC PR chief Dave Sholler is part of the promotion’s ownership group.
A No. 1 prospect in regional rankings, according to Tapology, Granger is undefeated in five professional and five amateur fights.
Goldy, nicknamed “Queen of Sparta,” won over UFC president Dana White on the first episode of this season’s Contender Series, outpointing Kali Robbins for her second professional win. Goldy already owns a win over UFC veteran Gillian Robertson.
UFC on ESPN 5 is headlined by a welterweight fight between ex-interim champ Colby Covington and former undisputed champ Robbie Lawler.
