Newly-reported coronavirus cases up on yesterday in latest Bristol figures

There have been another 373 coronavirus cases discovered across Bristol in the last 24 hours to Thursday (July 29).

This figure is a rise compared to yesterday's 336.

According to Public Health England there have now been 46,137 coronavirus cases across the city since the pandemic was officially declared last year.

The figures also show another 168 cases were recorded across South Gloucestershire, with 60 in North Somerset, and 98 in Bath and North East Somerset.

Nationally, as of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 29,622 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

During the week ending July 24, there were 2,271 cases across Bristol, giving the city a rolling seven-day infection rate of 490.1 cases per 100,000 people - compared to the England average of 351.8.

Middlesbrough has the highest infection rate across the country, 797.3, with 1,124 cases during the same week.

A further 68 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 129,583.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 154,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

How many people have been vaccinated?

Government data up to July 29 shows that of the 84,737,932 Covid jabs given in the UK, 46,775,525 were first doses, a rise of 42,410 on the previous day.

Some 37,962,407 were second doses, an increase of 180,155.
