Newly married couple caught speeding in BMW after wedding

A newly married couple were caught speeding after their wedding, police said.

Officers posted a picture of a wedding car, which they said was caught travelling at 47mph in a 30mph zone in Radcliffe, Bury yesterday.

"Moments after getting married, this bride & groom were clocked driving 47mph in a 30mph zone by #TransportUnit & #SCIU yesterday in Radcliffe," officers said on the GMP Traffic Twitter page.

Current coronavirus rules state that weddings can only take place in exceptional circumstances, with a maximum of six people able to attend.

From March 29, up to six people can attend weddings in any circumstances.

Then from April 12 at the earliest, the limit will rise to 15 people, and it could rise to 30 people from May 17.

Wedding restrictions could be lifted from June 21, when other coronavirus restrictions are set to be removed.
